Dr. Heyer summarizes Faulkner's early life with an emphasis on Faulkner's problems with alcohol and his family history of alcoholism. His personal memories of Faulkner begin with their acquaintaince at a New Years Day hunt, 1959, and consist chiefly of recollections of hunting and riding together, and Faulkner's stays in University of Virginia Hospital and Tucker Sanitorium in Richmond for alcohol abuse treatment . He also cites pages of Blotner's biography mentioning himself and notes at least one conversation with Jill Faulkner Summers on her father's love of hunting. A copy of Hyer's will is included.
